All pre-cast stone systems used by Creative Coatings, Inc. are lightweight, fireproof masonry products that can be applied to interiors or exteriors of any project. The stone come in a wide variety of styles and colors to fit all decorative schemes. The stone system used are designed to allow ease of installation without the need for expensive and additional structural support needed for many other types of stone systems.
During the preparation stage of the work, the first step is to apply a vapor barrier to the exterior building if it is wood frame construction. Next, galvanized steel lath is affixed to the substrate; this forms a positive base which permits cement to adhere. The surface of the building is now prepared to hold the cement scratch coat. The scratch coat provides a positive bond and adds strength to the substrate to accommodate the installation of the stone to be applied. The stone corners are applied first, then the flat pieces are applied working toward the center of the wall. Stones are cut and shaped for a uniform joint consistency. Once all stones have been installed, all joints are grouted.
